35th Annual Daffodil Classic

 

Event Overview

     The Daffodil Classic winds through the beautiful 

     Orting valley and surrounding hills. Bring your

     bike, trike, tandem, or unicycle--all cyclists are

     welcome! There are routes for families, recreational

     cyclists, and serious roadies.

 

     Choose from 40-mile, 60-mile, or 100-mile loops; or

     a family-friendly, paved trail option from 1 mile up to

     30 miles. Riders will enjoy a well-marked course with

     cue sheet and map, support vehicles, fully stocked

     rest stops, and strawberry shortcake at the finish line.

Early registrants will be entered in a drawing to win a $300 bike shop gift certificate. Winner will be announced the day of ride.

  • Online:  preferred method with credit card or PayPal account. Online registration closes 4/15/2010 11:59:59 pm PDT. Early T-shirt sales ends on 4/5/2010 at midnight.
  • By mail: Complete registration form and mail to us by 4/5/2010 with a check--Daffodil-TWBC, PO Box 112078, Tacoma WA 98411
  • In person: You may register on site the morning of the event, but fees are higher. Pay by cash or check only (no debit or credit cards). Tip: bring a completed registration form with you to save time.

T-Shirt Orders

T-shirts are $12 each for short sleeve and $17 each for long sleeve when pre-ordered with your registration by 4/5/2010. Only a limited number of t-shirts will be available on the day of the event for $15 each short sleeve and $20 long sleeve.. Guarantee the right size and save $3 by ordering your t-shirt(s) by 4/5/2010.

 

Parking

Please respect the Orting community with your vehicle parking choice. Do not park in retail spaces or restricted areas. Event volunteers will be on site to direct you to approved parking locations. Carpooling is encouraged.

Breakfast

Start your day with a hearty breakfast featuring pancakes, eggs, ham, milk, juice, and coffee. Breakfast is served in the Orting Middle School cafeteria from 7:00am - 10:30am. Cost: $7/adult; $5/child. Proceeds will be used by the Weller Foundation to assist local families with school-related costs such as 6th-grade camp, sports fees, and physicals.

Rider Safety

Please come prepared to ride. We recommend you inspect your bike the night before. Along with your bike, bring an approved helmet, ID, water, first aid kit, tire repair equipment, other essentials, and a friendly attitude. All riders are expected to ride safely and obey the rules of the road.

Ride Support

       A bike mechanic and sag support will be available. Course    

       closes at 5pm. Final sweep of sag wagons begins at 4pm.

Event Proceeds

            Rider registration fees for TWBC events help to support the  Bicycle Alliance of Washington, bicycling safety and education programs,  community bicycle recycling programs and local bicycle improvements. Surplus food is donated to a local food bank.

Volunteers

This event is powered by dozens of TWBC volunteers who receive a free t-shirt and ride registration along with a post-event pizza party. Help make this event a success: volunteer now!
