    We'll ride down to and along the Waterfront then loop around Point Defiance, (we regroup at four points along the way) then on to University Place and Fircrest for coffee/snacks/lunch.

    The ride has hills and is on lightly traveled roads for the most part. Ride length is 23 miles.

    Dupont ride: Meet at the Narrows Park-N-Ride before 9:30am. 

    This ride occurs every other week.

    Ride out to DuPont thru Steilacoom for coffee at Forza's. There are two hills of significance, one going and the other returning.

    Thursday's ride: Meet at the Puyallup trailhead before 9:30am. 

    Ride to South Prairie and/or Buckley along the Foothills Trail. A perfect mix of bike-friendly paved trail, riverside scenery, good company, and a stop for your favorite beverage in South Prairie for a 30 mile round trip (and/or lunch in Buckley for a 40 mile round trip) has made this one of the club's most popular weekly rides. 

     Be sure to arrive well before the start of the ride since many riders may leave at 9:15 for a slower version.

    Distance - 20– 30 miles

    Gather at the Geico building in Lakewood. 12930 Pacific Hwy SW a, Lakewood, WA 98499

    Pace 15 +/- mph on flat ground. A few hills based on group ability & desire.

    Destination can be Nisqually, Pt Defiance, Gig Harbor, Spanaway.

    This ride is for base miles, building for summer event rides. We may have a mid point stop at a gas station or lunch stop depending on distance and conditions.

    Centralia Western trail: 


    This ride is on the Chehalis Western Trail and begins in Lacey, we usually go to Tenino (but sometimes Yelm).

    Meet at the Chambers Lake Chehalis Western trailhead in Lacey and be ready to leave at 9:30. 

    Take exit 108 to Sleater Kinney Road SE and proceed south to 14th Avenue. Turn right on 14th and then left after you cross under the trestle (park is next to the trestle). 

    Bring money to buy lunch at the Sandstone Cafe in Tenino.

    42nd Annual Daffodil Classic

     

    Event Overview

    The Daffodil Classic winds through the beautiful

    Orting valley and surrounding hills. Bring your

    bike, trike, tandem or unicycle - all cyclists are

    welcome! There are routes for families, recreational

    cyclists, and serious roadies.


    Choose from a 40-mile or 60-mile loop, or do both for 100-miles. 

    There's also a family-friendly, paved trail option, up to 40 miles on the Foothills Trail. Riders will enjoy a well marked course with cue sheet and map, support vehicles, fully stocked rest stops, and strawberry shortcake at the finish line.

    • Online:  preferred method with credit card. 
    • Online registration closes on 4/13/2018 midnight PDT.
    • Pay by Check  Complete the Online Registration and Mail your Check to TWBC, PO Box 112078, Tacoma, WA 98411.  Enclose a note listing the event and invoice number along with your Check. Payment must be received on or before 4/13/2018 to be considered.
    • In person: You may register on site the morning of the event, but fees are higher. Pay by cash or check only (we may be able to take debit/credit cards). Tip: bring a completed registration form with you to save time.
    Families with children under 17 and under

    For registration purposes, minors 17 and under must be registered and accompanied by an adult rider.

    Parking

    Please respect the Orting community with your vehicle parking choice. Do not park in retail spaces or restricted areas. Event volunteers will be on site to direct you to approved parking locations. Carpooling is encouraged.


    Rider Safety

    Please come prepared to ride. We recommend you inspect your bike the night before. Along with your bike, bring an approved helmet, ID, water bottle, first aid kit, tire repair equipment, other essentials, and a friendly attitude. All riders are expected to ride safely and obey the rules of the road.


    Ride Support

           A bike mechanic and sag support will be available.

            Course  closes at 5pm.

            Final sweep of sag wagons will begin at 4pm.


    Event Proceeds

                Rider registration fees for TWBC events help to support bicycling safety and education programs,  Kidical Mass Rides for kids, community bicycle recycling programs and local bicycle improvements. Surplus food will be donated to a local food bank.


    Volunteers

    This event is powered by dozens of TWBC volunteers who receive a free ride registration along with a post-event pizza party. Help make this event a success:

    The Peninsula Metric Century (PMC) is a challenging ride through the scenic Kitsap Peninsula. Enjoy panoramic waterfront views, rural countryside, and lots of rolling hills. Choose from routes of 60k, 100k or 100m. Riders will enjoy a well-marked course, support vehicles, fully stocked rest stops, and dessert at the finish line.   

    • Everyone will need to sign a release form and pick up a wrist-band.
    • Riders planning on riding the 100 mile course will need to show up and leave between 7am and 7:30am.
    • Riders planning on riding the 67 mile (100 K) course will need to show up and leave between 7:30 and 8am.
    • Riders planning on riding the 38 mile course will need to show up and leave between 8am and 8:30.

    Members, please Volunteer for the PMC and help your club. Remember Volunteers can ride free before or after your shift.

    Route Choices             From Tacoma
    • 60k (38m) loop crosses the Narrows Bridge, loops around by Kopachuck, Crescent Valley and the Cushman Trail.
    • 100k (67m) loop crosses the Narrows through Gig Harbor to Southworth, along Beach Drive into Port Orchard through Kitsap County and Purdy on rural roads with rolling hills.
    • 100m loop, a very challenging course with seven thousand feet of elevation gain. It has all of the scenery of the shorter routes plus Wauna, Rosedale and Wollochet Bay.

    Families with minor children
    For registration purposes,  children aged 17 or under may ride free when registered with an adult parent.
    Parking and Transit Service There is ample free parking at the start location. In any case, we encourage you to cycle, carpool or use public transportation. The Tacoma start location is at the Park & Ride across from the Narrows Theater.
