TACOMA WHEELMEN'S CLUB
MAY 2
Tacoma Wheelmen’s Club
PO. Box 99555
Tacoma, WA 98499
., fhe May ride schedule leaves
a little to be desired if you are
looking for a 15, 20 or 30 mile
ride to go on. Most of our
regular ride leaders are riding
longer miles, leaving a major
void in having a well rounded
schedule.
If you are one of the people looking for a shorter ride perhaps you should consider leading one. It isn’t difficult. All you need to do is contact Steve or Phyllis Lay at 759-1816 before the club meeting to be on
the following month’ s ride
schedule. If you feel you don’t
know where to go, we have many
destinations to suggest, with
maps available for some of them.
For the honor of being a ride leader you will receive a ride leader patch at the annual banquet. If new leaders don’t come forth, the June ride schedule will look like the last two. Flease help.
The effective cycling course
scheduled to begin on May 4th has
been cancelled. It will possibly
be offered in the fall--more
details to follow.

Daytime Riders Wanted
I know there are other members
out there who don’t have the typical
Monday thru Friday 9 to 5 jobs. Iam
interested in speaking to those who whould like to ride during the week. Please call Leda at 475-3517. Definitions...... A CYCLOTOURIST evcies _-leisurely. He visits MUSEUMS » hurches, castles, and so on. He is
also often a photographer, and stops
every two miles to get a snapshot,
which considerably bothers any
randonneur who happens to be with
him.
A RANDONNEUR cycles for the sake of cycling. Being on a bike is the main part of his fun. Of course, he looks at the scenery, and appreciates the sights, but he doesn’t stop every now and then to pick flowers or look at a little birdie. :
A CYCLOSFORTIF is a guy deep in the bottom of his regrets mot having become a racer when he was still young enough. Accordingly, he dresses himself in a racer’s outfit (even if his belly is a little bulging), uses a racing bike with tubulars instead of clinchers, and pedals at full speed as long as he can. (And some of them can go far and fast!)
