During our last campout ride, Greg and Connie Torfin had just put up their tent and were preparing for dinner. Connie required exactly 7 cups of water for cooking and sent Greg to the fau- cet with a 3-cup waterbottle and a 5- cup waterbottle. Upon arriving Greg realized his dilemma. How is he going to bring back exactly 7 cups of water using only the two waterbottles Connie gave him? We know that Greg is going to need some help on this one so let's all help him out. How would you do it?

Mohawk-Hudson Wheelmen
The Mohawk-Hudson Wheelmen has had a plague of
accidents of late, and the new members may well be
asking, “Is cycling dangerous?” The answer is, “Danged
right it is!” I myself once locked up my front brake, flew
over the handlebars, and broke my collarbone. That was
the-second broken bone I had suffered.
I broke the first one getting out of an easy chair.

(Ve, the most pleasant ride of the season will begin at the Tall Timbers Cafe in Eatonville at 8:00AM on July 9th. Actually the ride starts at 9:00 AM but we will need an hour to carbo- load on orange juice and plate size pancakes. After breakfast we will start a wonderful 44 mile odyssey
Northwest Bicycle Touring Society, a non-profit organization which has been providing low-cost, high quality bicycle tours for over 15 years,
a new tour this year: The Mount St.
p Weekend Tour (Sept 3-5). The
yided into two 70 mile segments
urs on the second day, ranging
les in length, including one
which provides a close-up view of Mount St. Hel- ens and Spirit Lake. All the amenities NBTS is known for will be included (breakfasts, dinners, overnight accommodations at the Cispus Center, a support vehicle to carry personal belongings, tour maps, an excellent route, and much more) at a very reasonable price--$60 for adults and $25 for child- ren 12 and under.
that takes us through such delight—
ful places as Elbe, Ashford and Long-
mire on our way to Paradise. The hill
from the park entrance to the top is
25 miles long but isn't really all that
steep. A low gear of about 42x26 should
get you through. At Paradise we will
either eat a sack lunch or buy lunch at
the snack bar ar lodge. The trip back
to Eatonville won't be much of a cha-—
llenge but 44 miles of downhill can't _
be all bad.
You should know two more things about this ride. First, even in early July the weather on Mt Rainier is unpredict— able and can be harsh. Please bring about twice as many clothes as you fink you will need including tights, tong fingered gloves, a long jersey and a rain jacket. Second, you will need $2.00 cash to enter the National Park but your extra gear and sack lunch will be brought to the top by a partic- ularly trustworthy sagperson so you don't have to feel obligated to buy an overpriced greaseburger at the top.
For more information and applications, send a self- addressed, legal sized envelope to: NBTS c/o Terry &= Lori King, 7001 S. Montgomery, Tacoma, Wa 98409.
Tour limit is 140 people. applications and fees
must be received by Aug 15th, 1988.
