Highlights of next month: an overnight ride to Mount Rainier June 7-8, the
annual Centralia ride with the Mountaineers June 8, and another overnighter
on Whidby Island June 14-15.

A sincere thanks to all the people who participated in the Daffodil
parade. Roy Devore and Cris Pond on unicycles, Stuart Crook and Liz Lassoie
on Baloon tired bikes, Dan Feldhaus and Dallas rode Tandems as did Stq
Currie and Polly Crook. Win, Charlott,and Niel Anderson rode a molton 4 speed
with Bugger Trailer, Harvey Lister a three wheeler, Frank Weldon a 10 speed
camper, Crazy Larry a wheel standing Moto Cross Bike, Happy Paine in full
racing gear. Tacoma Wheelmans c ub was advertised by Pat Stratton carrying
a daffodilled "T", Joan Ready a"W", and Ginny Perret a "C",

Pat McHugh of the Bike Route donated his Hi Wheeler. It was one of the highlights of the parade, especially for me because I got to ride it.

Eldon Stratton donated Southwells for the decoration party and as a rallying point early Saturday morning. Allen Moberg drove his van with a trailer

which proved to be a very effective way to transport people, bikes and the beer keg. Steve Newton cracked the whip when we got to talking too much

and indulging in the golden goodness. To all who were with us in mind and spirit thank you because it proved to be one of the better things for bicycling in Tacoma and the best Tacoma wheelmans effort yet.

Bicycling with Jack

The Nisqually ride, Sunday April 13. Nine eager riders left the VI P resturant about 11:30 PM led by Harvey Lister. The route led up the Nisqually Valley to Old Nisqually. At the first hill, Joan Ready threw the chain off her rear derailleur and broke a spoke which was promptly repaired by Harvey and Steve Newton, Handy fellows to have along on a ride. At the Yelm- olympia highway we headed toward Lacy and a place Milltown or something like that. We turned off on an interesting looking side road going down by Long Lake. Somewhere between Long Lake and Milltown, lost and perspiring leaders poured over baffling maps trying to find a way back to civilization. after much riding around in circles, famished riders finally pulled into an A&W rootbeer resturant in Lacy for welcome refreshments and hamburgers.

Then an easy ride back with a hair raising roll down a long steep hill with a
sweeping curve at the bottom and a long run out onto the Nisqually flats. my
highlight of the trip was back at the parking lot where I found a dollar bill,
which I gleefully snatched up from the pavement under the hostile eyes of the
others who were all green with envy.

Training rides every Mon., Wed., Fri. starting at 6 PM from "The Bike
Route; 9836 Gravelly Lake Drive in Lakewood. These are hard, fast
conditioning rides.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month in the Swasey Library, 7001-6th Ave. at 7:30 PM. Dues are $3.00 per individual, $5.50 per family, Initiation fee is $1.00. Dues may be mailed to Steve Newton, 4502 South Cedar, Apt. #212,Tacoma, Wa. 98409,
