Seatac Breakfast Ride, April 27, 1975. Led by faithful club member,
Diane Moseid, twenty-five unfed and hungry riders left the parking lot at
24th & Pacific at 7 AM.
We stopped at "Johnnie's" in Fife for breakfast. I don t know what they thought when twenty-five bike riders stormed their resturant early Sunday morning but they leaped to the task. Food was superb, service excellent, prices no worse than anywhere else, I guess.
With a good tail wind and "Old 99" practically to ourselves, we arrived at Seatac in good shape, eager to press on to Southcenter and the Pie House for lunch. Polly and Stuart Crook got lost in the maze at the Airport. I think a security guard found them blissfully riding down runway #2 in the path of a descending B1i47 and escorted them back to the highway.
Leaving Southcenter, we proceeded down the Green River Bike Route and
West Valley Highway. We stopped again at Sumner for coffee and snacks. This
has to be the "eatenist" bunch I ever saw. Frank Weldon says he thinks it's
a stopping club instead of a cycling club. I think he could expand that to
a "Stopping and Eating Club". He says Ruth's bike runs on coffee, getting
five miles to the cup, about.
There were a few groans from protesting muscles, flabby from winter's disuse, no doubt, as the last leg of.the 53 mile‘ trip was finished off.
We travelled down the North Levee road along the Puyallup river and back to the parking lot. This was one of our great and successful rides and Diane deserves a nice round of applause from everyone. Right on Diane!

Millersylvania Overnight, May 25-26, 1975. Am even dozen riders assembled Sunday for a sunny day ride. Sun, tailwinds and moderate traffic enhanced the almost hilless 48 mile ride southeast from Tacoma through Roy, Yelm, and McKenna to Rainier, then east through Weir prairie to Miller- sylvania State Park. Weir prairie is an area free of typical Western Washington undergrowth and interspersed with Fir and Oregon White Oak; one of the most idyllic and least travelled sections of road experienced by this writer to date.
Millersylvania was reached after a 54 hour trip, and colorful tents
unfolded from bicycle panniers. Tired riders enjoyed a pleasant evening
highlighted by the comings and goings of a large group of motorcyclists
and their hangers-on, and the arrival of Steve'n'Steve with a buggerfull
of refreshment. Crazy Carl, down on his motorcycle for the doings, was
an added surprise.
Morning brought a drizzle which dampened the breakfast andfirst hour's riding but did not mar the drafting sessions of the return trip over the same route for most, but a partially new one for a contingent of riders who had followed "Hawkeye" Weldon's navigation and "Flash" Olsen s pacing to an impromptu tour of East Olympia the previous day. Only one flat tire was incurred by the group and Polly found a dime.(Read it and weep, Jack)
Anyone having good bicycling slides please contact Harvey Lister. He is giving a slide show at the next meeting.
