7 p.m. Due to the last-minute cancellation at the June meeting, the
program for this meeting will be "On~the-Road First-Aid".
Learn what to have along and how to handle problems if an
accident should occur.

The first annual Peninsula Metric was very successful thanks to the hard work and efforts of Joe Schaller, Committee Chairperson; the Committee members; and everyone else who volunteered their time. The Club even realized a profit, which is great for a first-year event. Many riders commented that the route was scenic and enjoyable and that they would be back next year. Thanks again to everyone who worked on the Peninsula Metric. TT

You won't want to miss the Club picnic at Haven Lake which is coming up on
August 7th, It will start with a bicycle ride from Gorst at 9 a.m.
(meeting place will be the abandoned Pleasant Valley School). The ride is
approximately 20 miles each way. There will be a catered picnic dinner,
swimming, and lots of fun. This event is free to Club members and guests
are welcome at a cost of $4. All those wishing to attend must RSVP by
August 1, 1983, by calling 472-1374 (ask for Eldon) or 588-3438 (Eldon or
Virginia),

(NOTE: The following article was written by one of the crazy participants on the June 4th Ladies Only camping trip.)

There we were, four fearless and one fearful (me) females peddling our way across the Narrows Bridge. Every time a truck roared past I was sure I was going to lose my T.P. and toothpaste that I had ignorantly packed in that nifty outside pocket of my pannier.

Lori King and Sue Given, our expert tour guides, conducted us smoothly through Gig Harbor—with a little backseat driving from Gail. With help from the rest of us we were able to find every store in the region—and of course we had to stop.

Our stay in Manchester park was great. We were in the middle of our educational seminar (selected from Cosmopolitan Magazine) when romping through the woods came a male biker. Funny thing— he claimed to have just happened across us.

Special thanks to Jennifer who saved us from the wild animals of
the park. I just hope the Save the Slugs Society doesn't catch
up with us.
