It is a pleasure to write to all of
you for the first time as your president.
I hope that each and everyone of you has
had a happy holiday season!

As I look forward to the new year, a few things come to mind. First of all, I'm looking forward to the annual banquet. The banquet committee is hard at work. They even have a few things planned that they won't tell me about! What did I do wrong that I want to forget? If you haven't signed up yet for the banquet, do it right now. The banquet is always fun!

I'm happy to report that your club is in very good health. As we look to the 1986 biking season, we are financially sound. We.already have several experi- enced volunteers to serve as chairmen for our major events and committees. However, I also remember that our major events do require 25 to 40 volunteers to make them a success. If each of you will chip in once or twice this coming season to help, then all we need for a successful cycling season is a bit of sunshine and a good set of kevlar tires!

Christmas Party

If you missed the Christmas party on
December 14th, you missed a mighty fine
time! Jim Davis (weatherman extraordi-
naire) predicted good weather, amd he
delivered...but a little bit smoggy.

Diane Lister (head choirmaster) led
us carolling to four bike shops to spread
our merry Christmas cheer.

Sue Davis (chief cook and bottle
washer) did it again! The ham, beans, and
salad disappeared without a sound. 35
hungry cyclists don't say much when eating
delicious Christmas goodies.

Steve and Phyllis Lay (ride captains)
led the night riders around to see the
Christmas light displays in the North End.
These riders returned to the party hungry,
so the Christmas goodies got a second test
and passed again.

Everyone who attended agreed on the
best ways for a cyclist to celebrate
Christmas...riding and eating!

We will gather for cocktails at 6:30pm, and sit down for dinner at

JANUARY CLUB MEETING

On Tuesday January 21st, Sargeant Lar- son of the Tacoma Police Department will be at our club meeting. Sgt. Larson and Jim Davis have planned a 3-part program: (1) THE LAW...a brief review of state, county, Tacoma, and Seattle bicycle regu- lations. (2) PROPER ATTITUDE...the point really isn't legal rights; the point really is safety. (3) DIALOGUE...applying the law to practical situations keeping safety in mind.

11th’ Annual Daffodil Classic will be held
April 27th and help is needed now to plan
this exciting event. The first committee
meeting will be held on Tues. Jan. 14th
at 7:30 p.m. at Steve Lay's house, 1320
North Cedar St. Help make this year's
Daffodil Classic the biggest and best yet!
