A big "THANK YOU" is extended to all members of the banquet committee and especially to Diane - Lister, chairperson of the committee. The banquet was a fun and enter- taining evening for all 60 club members and guests who attended. Sue Given, club treasurer, was awarded a plaque for most valuable
) member for 1985.
For all trivia buffs, mileage statistics for the 1985 cycling season were presented. A combined total of 52,932 miles were ridden by the 66 members who came out for club rides! There were 124 possible rides a club member could have par- ticipated in, with 6,275 miles
‘possible per person.
Members who obtained the three highest club mileage totals were Steve Lay with 3,040 miles, Phyllis Lay with 2,989 miles, and Linda Smith with 2,767 miles. Let's try for even more total miles and for participation by more club members during the 1986 cycling season!

Those of you who attended the great Tacoma Wheelmen's Bicycle Banquet
may remember certain comments made about me by Jim Davis. First of all,
Jim presented my rider, Wayne, with a large gear chart of my 30 gears,
then proceeded to tell about the trouble he had riding me. Thanks for
the gear chart, Jim, but I must say you should get to know me better
before making a judgment about my dependability. After all, I'm a young
bike, only ten months old. I have a lot to learn yet.
For those of you who have not met me, my name is Klyde Kluiser. I am a Kluiser bike, that is a cross between a beach cruiser and an off-road klunker. I have an old Schwinn cantilever frame for a skeleton and an assortment of components. I'm part 3-speed, part 10-speed, and part BMX bike, besides being a klunker and cruiser. Probably my most talked about features are my 30 possible gear ratios and 3 shift levers. My rider in fact does not use all 30 gears. I have 11 well-spaced ratios which I share with you to set Jim's good, intentions straight:
Chainwheel 28 28 28 43 43 43 43 43 43 43 =43 Rear cog 26 26 21 2 Bets 2d. - SHS" 16 14 16 14 Hub ratio £T SAU EOUNE Os 75 er: AON OOM ROM MO S383 Gear inches 21 28 35) 40 47 53 62 70 80 93)" 106
I would like to add that I am learning to be more dependable. I'm sorry I was so balky when you rode me, Jim. Try me on a future ride. You will find I'm especially good at going downhill. Going up is still a little slow for me. In the near future, I would like to share with you some of my adventures. Watch for articles in future newsletters and
