THANKSGIVING |
WEEKEND TOUR :

If your read your November newsletter, you
will remember that a few of us did not put
the bike in the garage for the winter.
Five hearty Wheelmen were determined to
visit the new Youth Hostel in Seattle.

Well the weather was great...the Youth
Hostel was everything we'd heard it would
be...what a weekend.

Jim, Fred, Sue, Diane, and Karen rode from
Tacoma to Bremerton on Friday, then took
the ferry to within half a mile of the
hostel. Friday evening we ate pizza in
the Pike Place Market.

On Saturday,
while Fred

the ladies went shopping and Jim rode the Burke-Gilman The guys ran into the Seattle Marathon -- they felt like samon swimming up stream. But they got in 50 miles before joining Diane and Karen for Seattle’s under-ground tour.

It was clear that the shoppers were the
most exhausted by the time we went looking
for our Saturday evening meal.

fhe Youth Hostel proved to be most
hospitable. They had four separate
cooking combinations of stove and sink in
the kitchen. This made sharing the
kitchen with all the other guests a lot of
fun. Dinner featured fresh halibut from
the market.
Sunday, we headed home by West
Seattle and Vashon Island.

If you are beginning to think that you shouldn’t have winterized your bike, all is not lost. Some the those winter riders are already planning another visit to the Seattle Youth Hostel over President’s Day weekend in February...hope to see you then.
