Daffodil Classic Wrapup______————
This year’s Daffodil Classic was, in general, a roaring fess. Exceptionally warm weather (in the mid 80's)
ered more than 1800 riders, the most ever, to our annual Orting invasion. Given the numbers and the weather, things ran relatively smoothly. There was enough food, although net all of it was in the right places. There were complaints about careless parking and inconsiderate riding. The offenders were not numerous, but they were noticeable. Riding four abreast is bad enough, but refusing to move over for auto traffic while doing so is brutally bad public relations (and suncidal). It 1s important that we do all we can to encourage courtesy and good road sense at future club rides.
Secause of the large turnout, TWC made more money than anticipated on this year’s Classic. This extra cushion al- lowed the membership to approve a board recommendation of significant financial support for a school safety program { Sprocketman’'), as well as donations to the Bicycle Fed~ eration of Washington and the Rails-to-Trails Coalition. Programs such as these and successful rides like the Daffodil Classic are a big part of what makes TWC special. Thanks to all who helped to make April 30th a terrific day.

B.LK.E.S. 9th Annual TOSRV-NW:
New & Improved!
August 4-6, 1989
TOSRV-NW is a 190-mile three-day bicycling tour that covers
some of the most beautiful countryside in the Pacific Northwest.
TOSRV is short for "Tour of the Scenic River Valleys." If you
like water, this is the ride for you. Not only do we ride through
river valleys, but we also pass by many scenic lakes and Puget
Sound.
We have an exciting and new route scheduled this year. The start
point is north of Marysville. The first night will be spent tenting
by the river at the Burlington KOA, after bicycling along the
Stillaguamish River, through Arlington, along backroads up to Lake
McMurry, past Big Lake and Clear Lake. The second day takes
you past Lake Samish, Chuckanut Drive, Bayview State Park,
Anacortes, and out to Deception Pass. That night will be spent at
the Comet Bay Environmental Learning Center (in cabins)--a great
location right on the water in easy hiking/biking distance to
Deception Pass. The last day takes you through LaConner, the
Skagit Valley, and back to Marysville. The terrain is mostly
rolling but there are a few hilly sections as well, making it a
challenging ride.
For only $60, you will get four full meals, snacks, maps/cue sheets, Dan Henrys, sag, camping, swimming pools both nights, ride souvenir, and a TOSRV T-shirt style bicycling jersey with pockets! This small-size ride is limited to 100 riders and caters to you--the cyclist. Tell your friends about it and join us on this great ride!
Further information or applications can be obtained by writing us at
BIKES/TOSRV-NW, P.O. Box 5242, Everett WA 98206; or by
leaving a message on the BIKES RideLine at (206) 339-ROLL
(Everett) or 972-AWAY (Seattle).
