Barbara Burk will’ be leading rides every Saturday’as long. as there is sufficient

interest.

She has led several rides which were enjoyed by those participating.

Anyone interested should call her at 564-6525 on the Thursday before the ride.

The tour planning session at Frank Weldon's house was a tremendous success.

The participation of every club member involved is greatly appreciated. pea The tentative tour schedule which extends through October will be printed this

month only, and should be retained for future reference.

Bob Branson is currently organizing the third annual

DAFFODIL CENTURY to be run on April 23rd. Thanks to Bob's TU R organizational abilities, it is expected that this year will be a repeat of previous successes. With patches

available for completion of 20, 50 and 100 miles, this
is a ride nobody should miss.

THURSDAY NIGHT RIDES will begin again in the latter
half of May. Call and let me know where you want to go
and what night you wish to lead!

There will be ferry rides to Vancouver Island, short bike (A IY @.

trips in the Victoria area and general merriment.
(Will there be a repeat of 1976, when certain parties rode their bicycles through the
halls of a well-known Victoria hotel late at night? They might also remember crashing
the party of a well-known singer.)

The VICTORIA RIDE is being organized by Frank Weldon. Reservations are necessary and should be made with Frank no later than May 7th.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has made the present tour schedule possible.

March is the start of the bicycle racing season. I've been waiting for this
month ever since last September. This year we are planning on totally demoral-
izing all the competition from Seattle. Believe me, there is almost nothing
more enjoyable than totally shattering an opponent's confidence!

We still haven't received our new jerseys, but they should be really great looking.

They will be yellow with two red stripes, a stripe starting from the shoulder and extending around each sleeve to the bottom of the jersey. All of the racers felt these colors and design would be more flashy than the blue and yellow jerseys

of past years.

If you have never seen a bike race, but are interested in seeing one, an excellent start would be the Volunteer Park Criterium (April lst). A criterium is a race that has many laps around a short course. The course is a challenging one. From some points, a spectator can see nearly the entire course. Competitors come from Canada, Oregon, Idaho, and from all parts of Washington. Also, there are races for novice racers. The Volunteer Park Race is in Seattle.
