LISA: When I had to.scrape ice off of the windshield the other day, I knew. : summer was over! Frank's ride to Steilacoom was a little chilly, but - a we got warmed up here this evening quite well with Bob's Four-Alarm Chili and Tacoma Wheelmen Inflammable Hot Buttered 151. Karen, you
need’a newsletter article WHEN?! Oh, no ... come on, you guys, let's
put “Our heads together. (The conversation turmed to more serious
topics).
CAROL: Did you hear the one about how to kill a polar bear? f
LISA: We can't print that in the newsletter! But that reminds me ... did I)
sl ees you about my dad's accident? ae
CAROL: Yeah, and you can't print that either. Anybody need another beer? .”
LISA: Yeah, it makes my I.Q. go up. Oh, Friday night was the L.A.W. Oktoberfest. at the Rainier Brewery. I found myself promising the entire’ bicycling community that we're going to have more tavern and Brurich rides next year. Frank, you still writing over there?
CAROL: I think you should write something about TANDEM MADNESS!
LISA?’ And what does the well-equiped tandem carry on rides now?
RANDY .& FRANK: A tape deck!
LISA: Just call me Disco-Bikie. Yesterday we went on the L.A.W. ride to "he Ste. Michelle Winery and dumped the bike in front of the building with 50 people watching. Hey, get those chocolate-chip cookies away
‘from me! I also. broke the rail on the tandem saddle yesterday -- a
Brooks Team Pro! a.
I'm leading a Thanksgiving Day ride. Frank, you just spilled beer on _~your wool jersey! Oh, well, wool stays warm when it's wet.
RANDY: Want another one, Frank?
LYNN: No, he still has to drink his jersey.
LISA: The Thanksgiving ride is at 8 AM at Orting City Park. If it snows like
it did last year, we'll just sit at the Sparpole Tavern and drink coffee
and watch football.
., FRANK: "Jaws" has been on for 8 minutes!
LISA: . Later!

We are having a difficult time nominating a slate of officers for the
December elections. I had hoped that once I had been president for a year,
there would be plenty of new people to pick up the reins, and the club would
be self-perpetuating. Apparently, such is not to be.
The club should function like a group of riders in a strong draft. I
pulled the load for 3y the end of the year, I was tired
and ready to sl Lisa maintained

sople who have been members for
several years; have been officers before to serve
again. I am going to run for president again. Ruth Weldon, who served as
editor for two years and tour captain for another, has offered to be publicity
chairman next year. Isn't it time for some of you to take another turn?
The Nominating Committe will announce one nominee for each office at the
November meeting. Nominations from the floor can be made at either the
November or December meetings. December is election time, and January is the
Awards Banquet and installation of officers. These are very important meetings,
and I hope everyone will come. g phe
