Just because winter is here doesn't mean that the TWC goes into hibernation. Far from it! Jack's Clover Creek ride attracted about 20 people. And a bunch of us rode the Daffodil course on Thanksgiving to work up an appetite. (And it didn't rain once!) Then we thawed out in front of the big screen TV at the Sparpole, which was the only thing in Orting that was open.
Now keep these dates open! December 19th is our general meeting and election of officers. The nominating committee has put together a slate of officers which collectively brings to the club many years of experience in bicycling and in the club's administration and activities. The gang we've gotten together is:
President........ Frank Weldon Touring Captain...Jack Williams
Vice President...Steve Newton Racing Captain....Mark Overfield
Secretary ..<6. 4. Nancy Clemens Bicycle Action....Mick Cole
TYHSASUFCE. .. 6c'5 6 Eldon Stratton Newsletter........ Bruce Rushton
Of course, nominations are still open. Other things to keep in mind include our Christmas lights ride and party at the Weldons' on the 21st and a New Year's morning eye-opener ride. Remember how cold it was last New Year's Day? We ended up at the Sparpole Tavern that day, too, I think.
If you missed the last meeting, you also missed Bob Freeman's slide show of his bicycling trip in British Columbia and also the vote on where to have the banquet in January. We decided to indulge in hearty German food at the Bavarian Restaurant on North K Street. So start practicing your German beer-drinking songs.
See ya at the meeting, —~
P.S. If I don't, have a joyous holiday! jrvA
