- - LON HALDEMAN and his wife SUSAN NOTORANGELO will be present-
- - ing a slide show on Friday, March 2, at 8:00pm, in Kane Hall
- - on the University of Washington Campus. Kane Hall is loca-
- - ted just east of Campus Parkway and 15th Street N.E. Ticket
- - rices are $4.00 in advance from the HUB ticket office and
- - $5.00 at the door Friday night.
- - Haldeman, Bicycling Magazine's "Rider of the Year", is the
- - current record holder for the Transcontinental Ride at 9
- - days and 20 minutes. His wife Susan holds the record for wo-
- - men at 11 days and 16 hours. On their honeymoon, they set
- - the tandem record for the same ride.
- - Appearing with the Haldemans will be the women's tandem team
- - of CHERYL MAREK & ESTELLE GRAY, who will be trying for the
- - women's tandem cross-country record this summer.
- - On Saturday, March 3, in conjunction with other area bike
- - clubs, the Tacoma Wheelmen will be sponsoring a training
- - ride with the Haldeman's and the Women's tandem team. The
- - ride will use portions of the Chilly Hilly on Bainbridge
- - Island and cover approximately 40 to 60 miles. There will be
- - shortcuts for those who do not wish to ride the whole route.
- - Those planning to ride should meet at the Seattle Ferry Ter-
- - minal at 10:00am to catch the 10:10 ferry to Winslow.
- - For a weekend of bicycling events you won't forget, join us
- - on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 33!

ter, we will be using a ride code
to assist riders in determining the
pace of each ride so that beginners
as well as more experienced riders
may choose rides according to their
abilities.
#1 - EASY PACE Frequent stop
for riders to catch up &
regroup: 10 - 13 MPH
#2 MODERATE PACE Occasional
stops to catch up and
regroup: maps provided
if ride is over 35 miles
13 - 16 MPH
STEADY PACE Limited
stops: maps provided:
15 - 18 MPH
The next Daffodil Committee meet-
ing will be held at Greg Grenier's.

Peninsula Metric Chairman again this year is Joe Schaller. This years ride will be expanded to a two day ride with an overnight stop halfway through the course. June 9 and 10 are the dates to mark on the calendar. It's not too early to get started on the planning.
