the three month tour across America that he took this year with
the "Cycle America" group.

You can also tour with "Cycle America" on any of the twelve
weekly segments across America. Next year, "Cycle America" will

Bicycles are hereby declared to be and are deemed baggage. and shall be transported as baggage for passengers by railroad corporations and steamboats, and subject to the same liabilities as other *- baggage; and no such passenger shall be required to crate, cover, or otherwise protect any such bicycle: Provided That a railroad corporation or steamboat shall not be required to transport under the provisions of this section more than one bicycle for one person. 1, The treasurer’s report shows our bank account to be healthy,
and we will be receiving payment from our involvement in the
Tour de Pierce.

2. The Tour de Pierce was a successful event in our eyes. Approximately 350 riders participated (after quite a short period of publicity). There were plenty of volunteers to help the day run smoothly. A BIG THANK YOU IS EXTENDED TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS, AND ESPECIALLY TO JON TURNIPSEED, SUE GIVEN, AND LOUIS BOITANO FOR THEIR ABLE LEADERSHIP. The board discussed ideas for the future of the Tour de Pierce, with an eye toward putting some of the money we received back into the event. Sue Given is pursuing information about mapping the route in a new graphic style available from a company in Oregon.

3. November 10 is the date for the LAW/BFW Calendar
Meeting. Our club will be represented at the calendar meeting
by Diane Taylor and Jon Turnipseed, and at the BFW meeting
by Diane Lister. The club will pay the meal and lodging fee for
their attendance. These meetings are being held at the St.
Mary’s Conference Center in Toledo, WA, and are open to any
interested members.

i Trails Association, highlighting the potential for their
hut-to-hut trail plans for both X-C skiing in winter and mountain

If you’ve attended past banquets you know what a fine job she does, and if youve worked on past banquet committees you know what fun they are! This year the committee gets a bonus - the meetings will be at her house (you know - the one with the hot tub!) the job!) Plans need to be underway this fall so that the
-shirt designs and application forms are ready for the
Bike Expo at the end of February. A leader is needed to
get a committee formed and get the planning underway.

Peninsula Metric Chairman: The February Bike [Expo is also the deadline for getting Peninsula applications ready to go. Take charge, form your ommittee, make a few early decisions, then sit back and est a while, until the final push in the spring. Don’t be shy - this may be your opportunity to take charge.

the great calendar of rides and activities we've come to
love so well. The right person for the job is one who
cares about our club’s primary goal - riding our bikes!
Make contact with other members, encourage them to
lead rides, and get the ride information to the newsletter

Bike Expo Booth Coordinator: Once again the

‘C.will have a booth at the Seattle Bike Expo. Line
lup a schedule of volunteers to work at the booth,
coordinate what we will display there, and then go enjoy
the Bike Expo from the inside.

brims with holiday cheer, and has space for a potluck (or
hatever) for a bunch of fun-loving bicyclists, then you
