President's Report for SeptemberGreetings my fellow cyclists. I hope you had time to get out and ride in August. We started with Ashford Bicycle Week at the Sahara Creek Horse Camp. Fred Johnstone rode to camp from Tacoma. Thomas Harrison and Steve Brown joined Charlene and I. We rode a backroad to Longmire for lunch on Tuesday. On Wednesday we cleaned up the Old Hersey Road and then used it to ride to Elbe for lunch. The fire smoke was thick on Thursday so we decided to go home one day early. |
ForeverGreen Trails Update
FGT has been working hard to help our local government partners’
trail grants be more competitive. Specifically, we contributed to
the applications and presentations for Pierce County’s Wilkeson to
Carbonado extension of the Foothills Trail and the City of Fife’s
section of the spuyaləpabš Trail, both of which are important for
the realization of the “Tahoma to Tacoma” trail route. We will find
out how these projects ranked later in the year and it will help
inform our legislative priorities for the next session — the next
State budget is how grant awards will be fulfilled.
